Research Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our Microbial Systems Ecology Group at ETH Zurich and Eawag. As a research team, we aim to understand the complex interactions between microorganisms and their environment.

The selected candidate will work on developing and leading a research project that combines concept development with quantitative single-cell experiments, proteomic, metabolic, and physiological analyses, as well as bioinformatic analyses and mathematical modeling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in microbial systems ecology, focusing on the interactions between microorganisms and their environment
  • Develop and lead a research project, in collaboration with our group and other groups in the PriME collaboration
  • Design and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, and draw conclusions
  • Collaborate with colleagues from diverse scientific backgrounds and contribute to a stimulating work environment

Requirements and Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g., microbiology, ecology, environmental science)
  • Experience in microbial systems ecology, with a focus on single-cell experiments, proteomics, metabolomics, or physiological analyses
  • Strong background in bioinformatics and mathematical modeling
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a multicultural environment
