Job Title: Bioinformatics Specialist
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatics Specialist to join our team at the Institute of Microbiology. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting research projects by applying biostatistics and modelling methods for the analysis, integration, and visualization of omics data.
Key Responsibilities
- Data analysis: The candidate will support research projects by applying biostatistics and modelling methods for the analysis, integration, and visualization of omics data.
- Data and IT infrastructural management: The candidate will support the management, storage, and submission to relevant repositories of various data types.
- Training of IMB members: The candidate will support the training of PhD students and postdocs by organizing individual sessions and regular teaching sessions.
- Development of tools and methods: The candidate will develop tools and methods for the analysis of omics data.
Requirements
- PhD (or MSc) in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, computational biology, or related field.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated experience in the modelling and analysis of omics data.
- Solid understanding of biological/statistical data analysis methods.
- Proficient programming skills (e.g., Python, R, UNIX/bash scripting, use of HPC systems).
Desirable Qualifications
- Expertise in statistical approaches to integrate multi-omics data.
- Background in microbial population/comparative genomics, ecology, and evolution, physiology, and metabolism.
