Trainee Data Engineer

Are you passionate about building the future of data-driven decision-making and eager to dive deep into the energy sector? We're looking for a talented Trainee Data Engineer to join our team.

As a Trainee Data Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects, collaborate with various divisions, and gain hands-on experience with the latest data technologies, tools, and methodologies. You will be part of the Axpo Trainee community, where you will meet regularly for events, take advantage of internal learning platforms, and expand your network.

You will work in the office in Baden, with the flexibility to work from home as well. The fixed traineeship salary is CHF 86'000 per year, including several attractive fringe benefits.

Key responsibilities:

  • Implement data pipelines using Databricks on Axpo's data platform.
  • Ingest data from various sources based on real business use cases.
  • Provide and improve reusable data products for the organization.
  • Contribute to internal coding standards and make reusable code available.
  • Ensure data quality through code testing and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • University/FH Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Data Science (no more than 2 years of post-graduation professional experience).
  • Proficiency in Python (incl. Pandas) and SQL. Experience in pyspark, Fast API, or similar is a plus.
  • Knowledge in ETL Tools and basic understanding of GIT for version control is a plus.
  • Knowledge of data modelling, data transformation, and data visualization.
  • Basic know-how of cloud platform (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Analytical skills, attention to details, eagerness to learn new technologies, and able to explain technical concepts in simple terms.
