We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD researcher to join our team at ETH, focusing on Hybrid Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics with Ge semiconductor QDs and high impedance superconducting resonators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conceive and design innovative quantum devices and systems, pushing the boundaries of experimental research.
  • Conduct advanced microwave measurements, achieving quantum-limited noise performance and exploring scalability aspects of hybrid quantum systems.
  • Develop customized solutions for the control and readout of spin qubits, collaborating with other teams within the research groups.
  • Engage in material studies and advance nanofabrication processes to enhance qubit performance, contributing to the development of flip-chip technology integration.
  • Fabricate superconducting and semiconducting devices, collaborating with other teams and contributing to the fabrication team.
  • Play a role in providing informal supervision to graduate/master students, fostering a collaborative research environment.

Requirements:

  • Hold or nearing completion of a master's degree in physics, Engineering Physics, or Applied Physics.
  • Strong interest and expertise in at least two of the following areas: experimental quantum processors, quantum information science, quantum optics, superconducting devices, microwave engineering, nanofabrication, and flip-chip technology integration.
  • Future career in research and development or education, aligning with career aspirations.
  • Proficiency in English, both in reading and writing scientific materials.
  • Exceptional candidates with a demonstrated track record in any field of physics, engineering physics, or nanotechnology will be considered.

Contract Terms:

This PhD position offers full-time temporary employment, providing a comprehensive infrastructure, expertise, and collaborative network available within our research groups and across the NCCR SPIN.
