About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer to join our team at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research. As an Electronics Engineer for Timing Systems, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of cutting-edge electronic systems for the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design, prototype, and test low-noise electronic components, PCBs, and systems for the HL-LHC project.
  • Collaboration and Innovation: Collaborate closely with firmware and software engineers to develop innovative solutions for timing systems.
  • Testing and Characterization: Develop test setups and conduct full performance characterization of systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document hardware designs, testing procedures, and operational guidelines in a structured manner to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
Requirements
  • Technical Competencies: Demonstrated experience in the design of analog-digital electronic circuits and systems, including component selection, PCB schematics entry, and layout.
  • Expertise in Instrumentation and Measurement Techniques: Expertise in instrumentation and measurement techniques, including the distribution of very stable, low-jitter clock signals.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C.
Desirable Skills
  • Design and Simulation of FPGA-based Electronics: Experience in designing and simulating FPGA-based electronics using HDL.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
