Job Title: Electronics Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Electronics Engineer to join our team at CERN. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electronic systems for various applications, focusing on sensor integration, data acquisition, and signal processing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electronic systems for sensor integration and measurement applications.
  • Implement instrumentation solutions for signal conditioning and data acquisition for testing superconducting magnets.
  • Perform signal processing, filtering, and analysis to extract meaningful information from raw data.
  • Design PCBs and schematics using CAD tools and participate in prototyping and testing of measurement systems and devices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of sensors and instrumentation in the test setup.
  • Conduct calibration, validation, and troubleshooting of instrument and measurement systems to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Document technical designs, testing procedures, and results.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in signal processing techniques and tools (MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, etc.).
  • Experience with PCB design and CAD tools (e.g., Altium).
  • Strong knowledge of analog and digital signal processing, including filtering, amplification, and noise reduction techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation hardware.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and debug electronic systems.
  • Sensors and measurement techniques, signal processing techniques and tools, PCB design and CAD tools, knowledge of analog and digital signal processing.
  • Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.
Eligibility Criteria:
  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • You have a professional background in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, or a related field, and have either a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience, or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

  • A monthly stipend ranging between 6212 and 6828 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax).
  • Coverage by CERN's comprehensive health scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.
  • Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.
  • 30 days of paid leave per year.
  • On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French.
