About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Services Specialist to join our team at Manulife Data Services Inc. The right candidate will have a strong background in investments, market operations, and financial data analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Daily Business Deliverables: The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the completion of team's daily business deliverables and adherence to agreed Service Level Agreement and Schedule of Services.
  • Collaborate with Internal/External Teams: The successful candidate will work with Investment Operations and other internal/external teams on process and production updates and issues relevant to completion of tasks at hand.
  • Lead Operational Process Improvements: The candidate will lead operational process improvements, recommend, and initiate tactical solutions/initiatives and actively participate on projects such as system transitions (UAT), process transformations, etc.
  • Deliver and/or Quality Check Dashboards: The candidate will deliver and/or quality check simple to complex data-structured dashboards. Be able to train team members in building business dashboards.
  • Aid in Compliance, Audit, and Regulatory Facilitated Requirements: The successful candidate will aid in the successful delivery of compliance, audit, and regulatory facilitated requirements.
  • Develop Team Capabilities: The candidate will aid in the technical capability development of the team. To ensure procedures are updated and lead the annual procedure exercise.
  • Prepare Management Information Reports: The candidate will aid in the preparation of Management Information reports such as data gathering, data cleansing.
  • Stay Updated on Industry Development: The successful candidate will remain updated with relevant industry development and market-specific best practices.
  • Act as Back-up Subject Matter Expert: The candidate will act as back-up Subject Matter Expert as required, participate in a regular program of industry-specific training and interdepartmental cross-training to ensure continuity of service and capability development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or any related course.
  • Work Experience: With at least five years related work experience.
  • Certifications: CISI certifications, CPA/CFA designation is an advantage.
  • Operational Experience: Operational experience in functions related to Investments / Market Operations such as reconciliations, asset servicing, settlements, onboarding, static.
  • Financial Knowledge: At least intermediate knowledge on different investment products required.
  • MS Office Skills: Intermediate to Advanced MS Office skills.
  • Experience with Power Platform: Track record of continuous improvement projects leveraging Power Platform is an advantage.
  • Experience with Robotics and Machine Learning: Experience delivering automation projects in collaboration with Robotics and Machine Learning Technology teams is an advantage.
  • Financial Data Platforms: Knowledge in third-party financial data platforms eg. OMGEO, Bloomberg is an advantage.

  • Risk and Controls Acumen: Strong Risk and Controls acumen – attention to quality, able to perform investigation and root cause analysis on operational incidents and assist with internal and external audit and key controls activities.
  • Project Management: Can lead projects or project steps within a broader project, contributes to process improvements.
  • Facilitation and Presentation Skills: Effective Facilitation and Presentation skills.
  • Quality Check/Controls: Ability to perform quality check / controls and administer technical coaching for performance as needed.
  • Client Focus: Client focused and ability to work on prioritizing responsibilities.
  • Trainability: Highly trainable and ability to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision.
