Environmental Sustainability Programs Manager

We are looking for a skilled professional to lead our environmental sustainability efforts in the diagnostics division. As Global Lead Environmental Sustainability Programs, you will be responsible for shaping and driving programs that reduce the environmental impact of our sites from a life cycle perspective.

The Position

This role involves collaborating with experts across various technical disciplines to develop and implement measures that promote resource efficiency, circularity, and waste reduction. You will also lead the integration of environmental sustainability into engineering projects to minimize their lifetime impacts.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to the development of the diagnostics division's environmental sustainability strategy, focusing on sustainable site planning, engineering, and operations.
  2. Identify and quantify opportunities to improve the sustainability performance of our diagnostic sites, considering a life cycle perspective.
  3. Take ownership of environmental sustainability topics, including waste, water, biodiversity, and F-gases, for the division.
  4. Participate in global best practice networks and contribute to knowledge sharing.
  5. Provide subject matter expertise to diagnostics sites and functions within the Global Capital Investment and Real Estate organization.
  6. Lead or participate in cross-divisional and cross-functional forums and working groups.
  7. Collaborate closely with internal customers, including Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Procurement, Safety Security Health & Environment (SHE), Product Stewardship, and Real Estate & Facility Management.
  8. Support environmental reporting and performance monitoring activities.

Requirements

  • A strong ability to network and build trustful relationships is essential.
  • You must have a team player mentality, being collaborative, open-minded, and solution-oriented.
  • An advanced university degree in environmental engineering, environmental management, or a related field, combined with at least 8 years of experience in environmental management or environmental engineering, preferably in a regulated and high technology environment.
  • Project management skills and familiarity with sustainability-related tools, methodologies, and frameworks, such as ISO 14001.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of resource circularity and waste management concepts, as well as life cycle assessment and experience with energy and material flow analysis of complex technical systems.
  • Proven success in leading initiatives at a global scale.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; ideally also fluent in German.
