Job Title: Senior International Diplomatic Affairs Specialist

Estimated Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 per year.

OCHA is a leading international organization dedicated to humanitarian response and development. As a Senior International Diplomatic Affairs Specialist, you will play a critical role in shaping the organization's policy and strategy in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Job Description:
  • Develop and implement operational activities related to the work of the Sana'a office and OSESGY, including building relations with key stakeholders and facilitating discussions and negotiations.
  • Provide expert advice on constitutional issues, supporting the Mission Leadership in navigating complex transitional scenarios.
  • Prepare high-level briefing notes, speeches, and talking points for senior staff, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Mission Leadership, offering guidance on organizational matters, negotiation dynamics, and business conduct.
  • Lead and direct a team of professionals, allocating tasks, coaching, mentoring, and evaluating performance to ensure exceptional results.
  • Represent OCHA at key regional events, seminars, and conferences, promoting the organization's mandate and interests.
  • Direct and oversee core processes that enable integrated delivery of the mission's mandate, driving strategic impact and effectiveness.

Education:
  • Advanced University Degree in political science, international relations, international economics, law, public administration, or a related field.
Work Experience:
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in international diplomacy, politics, law, disarmament, security, development management, conflict resolution, or a related area.
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting senior leaders in ongoing political negotiations and mediation efforts.
  • At least 3 years of field experience in the Middle East/North Africa region, with a strong focus on political issues and direct engagement with national stakeholders.
  • At least 2 years of experience working on constitutional issues in a field setting.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing a field office, with a proven track record of success.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience working in an international organization or non-governmental organization in a conflict or post-conflict setting.
Languages:
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (both oral and written) is required.
