We are a dynamic research-driven pharmaceutical company looking for a skilled Principal System Analyst to join our team in Basel, Switzerland. As a key member of our IT RDM Biological Sample Production and Management team, you will play a crucial role in developing, supporting and managing IT solutions for biological research and development for human and animal health globally.


Your key responsibilities will include:



  • Providing IT consultancy and operational support to research scientists globally, with a focus on supporting three business units in Switzerland
  • Taking over a role as system analyst or system engineer for IT solutions, including system configuration, design and development
  • Developing and maintaining productive and constructive rapport with key business contacts
  • Actively collaborating with IT service teams, research units, and external vendors for stable support and maintenance of our IT system landscape
  • Analysis, interpretation, identifying trends and addressing corrective actions to the management
  • Design, architecture and implementation of IT services, IT systems or IT components following the defined BI process framework of complex systems and software in the own area
  • Leading and participation in global product/project teams
  • Providing maintenance, optimization, innovation and 3rd level support for implemented and/or assigned solutions
  • Troubleshooting system problems that have been escalated
  • System Lead (and/or Software Lead) responsibilities for complex systems
  • Determine documentation requirements and produce documentation as required in support of baseline and project activities

To be successful in this role, you will have:



  • Bachelor in Computer Science/Information Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Engineer or related areas, and advanced degree is a plus
  • Experience in IT support for research and development systems, especially biopharmaceutical industry
  • Working experience with at least one programming languages such as Python and Java, and database technology such as PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server and Oracle, and operation systems such as Linux and Windows
  • Experience with IT project management, certificate in project management, CPI, or scrum is a plus
  • Fluent in English and German (oral and written)
  • Work effectively and independently or as a team member, act proactively with a strong sense of accountability and responsibility, and have strong communication skills with a passion for working in a virtual, international, multicultural and diversity environment
