Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Data Engineering Practice Lead to further expand and strengthen our Data & Cloud Engineering team. As a key member of our top company management, you will own the data engineering unit's P&L and have a unique ability to influence and shape the company's future direction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Communicate a Vision: Develop and communicate a vision for the data engineering practice that aligns with company objectives, leverages emerging trends for growth, and fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Client Engagement: Engage with potential and existing clients to understand their business needs and outline how we can solve their challenges and provide value.
  • Business Unit Performance: Ensure the business unit performs well and grows over time.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance to the team on complex data transformation initiatives.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with sales and marketing to present our services, prepare proposals, and present capabilities, while building and maintaining strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and long-term client relationships.
  • Project Delivery: Ensure the delivery of high-quality data engineering projects by overseeing project management, resource allocation, and implementing best practices to meet client expectations and deadlines.
  • Methodology Development: Encourage and oversee the development of new data engineering methodologies, tools, and services.
  • Team Management: Manage team performance, including setting objectives, conducting performance reviews, and promoting professional development.
  • Recruitment and Training: Recruit, train, and mentor data engineering and other team members.
  • Integration and Collaboration: Work closely with other business units within the consultancy to integrate data engineering capabilities into broader service offerings.
  • Partnerships and Compliance: Collaborate with technology partners and vendors to enhance the practice's capabilities and ensure data engineering projects comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in data engineering or a closely related field, with a progression from hands-on technical roles to managerial or leadership positions.
  • Leadership Experience: Experience in leading and managing data engineering teams, including hiring, training, and mentoring team members.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage complex, large-scale data engineering projects from conception through to completion, including budget management, timeline adherence, and stakeholder communication.
  • Technical Expertise: A deep understanding of data architecture, database management, ETL processes, big data technologies, and cloud services. Hands-on experience with data engineering tools and technologies is crucial.
  • Client Acquisition and Engagement: A track record of successful client acquisition and engagement in a consulting environment, including requirements gathering, solution design, and stakeholder management.
Additional Qualifications
  • Industry Certifications: Certifications related to data engineering, big data, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), or project management (PMP, Agile) are a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Language: Fluent in English and German or French.
