We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research. As a mechanical design expert, you will play a key role in designing and building a unique particle physics detector.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and integration process of new service-flexible chains, interacting with suppliers and preparing technical specifications and procurement documents. They will also participate in organizing the flexible chain CAD models within the PLM system and create simplified and configurable CAD models to describe the new opening configuration and opening procedure.
In addition, the mechanical engineer will collaborate with other members of the ATLAS Project Office to manage integration and define envelope, participate in safety and operations efforts, and regularly present progress on the design.
Requirements
- Technical Experience: 2 years of professional experience since graduation in industrial or mechanical engineering (or a related field) with strong knowledge of relevant software (e.g., CATIA / PLM / Smarteam).
- Fundamental Skills: Experience with FEA calculation of mechanical structures both in static and dynamic, writing technical documentations, calculation notes, and technical specifications.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Master's degree in the field of mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
- Language Requirements: Fluent in English, with the ability to work in French being an advantage.

- Salary: A monthly stipend ranging between 5,134 and 5,647 Swiss Francs (net of tax), depending on your individual circumstances.
