Senior Counsel, Sustainability Expert

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Counsel, Sustainability to join our team at ABB. As a key member of our Legal & Integrity department, you will play a critical role in providing strategic ESG legal advice and counsel to support our business operations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert ESG legal advice and counsel to support business operations and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sustainability, Procurement/Supply Chain, Finance, Sales, Human Resources, Investor Relations, Communications, and Government Relations, to develop and implement ESG strategies.
- Monitor and report on changes in ESG regulations, laws, and industry trends, and provide recommendations for updates to our sustainability and supply chain due diligence policies and programs.
- Advise on the formulation of new policies and processes to control and mitigate reputational, financial, and operational ESG risks.
- Support investigations of potential ESG breaches or incidents, including ABB's Supplier Code of Conduct, and advise on responses.
- Law degree (Masters) and qualified lawyer or equivalent required.
- 10+ years of private practice and/or in-house experience, preferably including ESG compliance, regulatory, investigations, or litigation experience.
- Strong understanding of relevant regulatory and voluntary standards, including UNGPs and OECD Guidelines, as well as emerging ESG legislation.
- Experience managing risks and implementing risk mitigation processes, and designing and managing complex risk management processes.
- Experience designing and executing training, communication, or change management initiatives.
- Proven ability to work independently with senior management and executives, and excellent communication and drafting skills.
- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Fluency in English required; other languages desired.
