Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Translator to join our team. As a key member of our translation section, you will be responsible for revising and translating complex documents, including those of a sensitive or technical nature.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Revises translations to ensure accuracy, consistency, and faithfulness to the original text
  • Translates texts on a self-revising basis, exceeding required workload standards and meeting deadlines
  • Drafts and/or revises original summary records, meeting deadlines and exceeding workload standards
  • Makes effective use of language technologies and tools, promoting their utilization among colleagues
  • Directs the identification of new terminology material and sets terminology standards
  • Acts as a coach, mentor, and trainer, supporting the professional development of staff
  • Captains cross-assignments to perform other language functions, as required
  • Liaises with colleagues to collect and analyze data, informing data-driven planning, decision-making, presentations, and reporting

Requirements:

  • First-level degree from a university or institution of equivalent status
  • Passed the relevant United Nations Competitive Examination for English Translators/Précis-Writers or combined examination
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in translation or a relevant language field, with eight (8) years in the United Nations Common System or similar international organizations
  • Excellent command of English, with knowledge of two other official languages

Working Environment: The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality standards.
