Job Description

Overview

CERN is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and quality control of the CMS Tracker. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the thermal performance of the tracker mechanical structures, contributing to the production and quality control of components, and developing advanced mechanical structures for the first layer of the Inner Tracker.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical structures for the CMS Tracker, ensuring optimal thermal performance and quality control.
  • Contribute to the production and quality control of components, including the on-detector cooling system.
  • Develop and implement improved mechanical structures and electronics systems to enhance CMS performance.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure the successful integration of the tracker mechanical structures.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on design, development, and quality control.
  • Excellent knowledge of two-phase cooling systems and mechanical structure design.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
  • Fluent in English, with the ability to work in French an advantage.
