The International Labour Organization is seeking a skilled professional to join its team as a Senior Communication and Public Information Officer in the News and Media Unit. This role will be part of a dynamic team responsible for leading the ILO's networking with international media, identifying newsworthy key moments, drafting and editing high-quality multimedia products, and supporting media training for ILO staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement the ILO's global communication strategy in line with organizational needs, focusing on global media relations and content creation.
- Write, edit, and revise materials for distribution, including news stories and press releases, in line with the ILO's guidelines and journalistic standards.
- Lead in the production of the ILO's multimedia products, such as podcasts and live productions.
- Identify opportunities to insert messages on gender equality and other key ILO messages in the global media calendar.
- Organize media coverage and interviews for the Director-General and other ILO officials.
- Provide technical expertise and advice to senior officials on public information and media relations.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An advanced university degree in communications, journalism, international relations, liberal arts or other relevant field.
- At least seven years of professional experience including at the international level in digital content production, journalism, public information or related fields.
- An excellent command of written and spoken English and of a second working language (French, Spanish).
