About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our team at Agroscope as a Postdoctoral Researcher for the EU project Deep Horizon. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting undisturbed soil cores from subsoil sites across Europe, acquiring and quantitatively analyzing three-dimensional X-ray scans of undisturbed subsoil samples, and linking macropore network properties to chemical, biological, and physical soil properties.
About the Project
The Deep Horizon project aims to develop a holistic soil modeling platform that incorporates macropore network properties and functions. As a key member of our team, you will help implement these properties and functions into the platform, working closely with our multinational team.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in soil system sciences, with a proven track record of research experience. You will also need to be highly motivated, with excellent communication and teamwork skills. Additionally, you will require the ability to acquire X-ray image analysis skills, with experience in image analysis being a plus. Proficiency in R or Python, or equivalent, is also essential, as is the ability to process large amounts of data. Knowledge of two official Swiss languages and a very good command of written and spoken English is also required.
