Role Overview

The Department of Health Sciences and Technology at ETH Zurich is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team in the field of data science for spinal cord injury (SCI). As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be responsible for leading the implementation, training, and benchmarking of state-of-the-art data science pipelines to characterize the landscape of SCI recovery trajectories and injury patterns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Familiarize yourself with various international databases collecting data on SCI patients and lead the implementation of data science pipelines to analyze these data.
  • Develop and implement novel quantification metrics of injury severity and recovery based on a mechanistic understanding of the clinical hallmarks of traumatic SCI.
  • Communicate with clinical experts to design and evaluate clinical trials in the context of traumatic SCI.
  • Support junior researchers in the team and contribute to the development of an online recovery exploration platform.

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant field such as data science, computer science, physics, and/or biomedical research.
  • Proficiency in Python programming with good knowledge of machine and deep learning models through Keras/TensorFlow and/or PyTorch.
  • Experience in software development, including collaborative coding, version control, and use of compute clusters.
  • Background in biomedical projects with experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, preferably in the context of SCI-related research.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
