Data Protection Manager Position

FIFA is seeking an experienced Data Protection Manager to join our team in Zurich, Switzerland.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will have a strong background in data protection law and experience in implementing global privacy strategies. They will be responsible for providing expert advice on data protection matters, conducting privacy impact assessments, and developing guidance and training programs for internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead privacy by design reviews of projects, products, events, or initiatives, incorporating data privacy principles into those initiatives.
  • Provide data privacy advice to internal and external stakeholders, supporting the implementation of rapid solutions to meet identified needs.
  • Support contract negotiations on an as-needed basis, reviewing data privacy contractual provisions with partners and third-party suppliers.
  • Conduct or oversee legal research, interpreting and applying risk-based assessments of how legal requirements affect new projects, products, events, or initiatives.
  • Keep abreast of technological developments, changes in the law, and enforcement trends, and their impact on data privacy in the world of football.
  • Develop guidance, awareness, and training as needed for internal and external audiences.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Law degree; CIPP/CIPM/CIPT certification strongly desired.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a data privacy function within a major law firm or a multinational corporation.
  • Strong substantive knowledge of EEA/CH/US/BR privacy and security laws, as well as a working knowledge of international privacy and data protection laws.
  • Experience and expertise in conducting privacy by design reviews.
  • Prior role in providing data privacy legal guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in monitoring privacy trends and developments and translating them into actionable guidance or requirements.
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision, and provide practical advice to stakeholders.
  • Must have the ability to effectively conduct privacy reviews and provide business-focused advice as a trusted partner.
  • Proven ability to develop vision, operationalize, and implement strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, understand, and assess trends and developments in data privacy, explain issues in a practical, results-focused manner.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface and develop relationships and work cross-culturally.
  • Highly motivated and proactive, with the ability to articulate the organization's vision and seek out areas of risk and priority.
  • Ability to consistently apply good judgment and prioritize.
