Trade Compliance Specialist

Job Summary:

Bio-Rad is seeking an experienced Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team in Cressier. As a key member of our compliance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the company's compliance with all relevant trade regulations and laws.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the coordination of import/export shipments with the Corporate Logistics and Compliance departments.
  • Perform SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) export compliance screening and set up restrictions in SAP GTS for import/export compliance concerns.
  • Manage shipments with export restrictions and manage the Global Trade Services (GTS) module of SAP.
  • Assign HTS classifications, Export Control Classification (ECCN), and request Other Government Agency (OGA) import product codes necessary for importation.
  • Assist in the country of origin determination for manufactured and purchased products imported and exported by Bio-Rad.
  • Maintain and assist with the implementation of Bio-Rad's export and import compliance procedures and work instructions.
  • Subject matter expert in one or multiple areas of the law such as HTS, ECN, Origin, Valuation, Free Trade Agreements.
  • Handle daily information requests from Customs Brokers for import clearance of products and materials.
  • Administer import/export recordkeeping requirements.
  • Support projects focused on improving business operations and processes in the EMEA region.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service and logistics to troubleshoot problem orders/shipments.
  • Responsible for auditing customs brokerage and shipment transactions and files.
  • Develop presentations and effectively communicate results with recommended action plans to management.
  • Use data analysis/modeling to create new reports, troubleshoot and modify existing reports, including Target KPIs, commodity indices, cost savings opportunities, etc.
  • Partner on initiatives to support the creation of new reports, metrics, and dashboards based on business needs.
  • Act as a liaison between end-users, IT, and other cross-functional teams and professionals in the analysis, design, configuration, testing, and maintenance of systems to ensure optimal operational performance.
  • Support internal audit procedures.
  • Provide necessary compliance training to operational personnel.
  • Provide recommendations and implement improvements to trade compliance management.
  • Responsible for analyzing and interpreting export and import regulations and providing risk assessments and advice related to business activities.
  • Identify and develop business processes to address compliance risks.
  • Maintain awareness of industry and market trends through ongoing research.
