At MSC Cruises, we are seeking an experienced and visionary Hotel Operations Director, New Builds Transformation Leader to spearhead the development, conception, building, and introduction phases of all new shipbuilding projects. This key leader and decision-maker will drive operational excellence and lead all aspects of new builds for our guest operations.
About the RoleThis role requires a strong understanding of hotel operations, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, including yard teams, suppliers, and onboard management. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of shipboard experience in a senior leadership position, preferably as a Hotel Director, and 5+ years in a shoreside cruise line Head office in a leading position involved with Newbuild departments and product design.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that new ships deliver exceptional guest satisfaction, onboard revenue, and expense targets. They will guide operational decisions regarding the general design of vessels and projects, ensuring logistical and financial requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities- Drive the development of all new shipboard venues and programming, including planning, financial review, establishing crew par levels, and meeting budget requirements.
- Assist with talent selection and development of operational groups during all stages of the project.
- Act as a key gateway in the specific design (front and back of the house) of all venues, including F&B, guest services, entertainment, retail areas, gaming areas, medical facilities, crew areas, staterooms, crew & officers cabins, public areas, etc.
The Hotel Operations Director, New Builds Transformation Leader will also participate in inspections during the final phase of construction to ensure work is completed professionally and accurately while adhering to the project schedule. They will partner with Operations and Marketing to monitor current and future industry trends within the cruising and hospitality industries to formulate recommendations for innovative new concepts and venues.
Requirements- Fluent in English; any additional language is an advantage.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- Strong project management skills, with a proven track record in an international environment.
- Able to travel up to 75% of the time between offices, ships, and shipyards.
The estimated salary for this position is $120,000-$180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
