Job Description:
The Project:We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to join our team in investigating ultrafast dynamics of quantum materials under pressure. This project aims to understand the dynamic response of quantum materials once they are brought out of equilibrium following excitation by an ultrashort pulse of light.
Our team will employ state-of-the-art experimental techniques to study the behavior of quantum materials under high pressure. The acquired knowledge will enable a better control of the properties of quantum materials and inform theory developments that seek to model ultrafast material responses.
Research Environment:This PhD position will be based in Prof. Elsa Abreu's Quantum Material Dynamics group at ETH Zürich, in the Institute for Quantum Electronics. You will have access to cutting-edge facilities and collaborate with a team of renowned researchers.
Requirements:- A Master's degree in physics or material sciences.
- Background in condensed matter physics.
- Experience with time-resolved experiments or performing measurements under high pressure is advantageous.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Strong motivation, creativity, and self-initiative.
