JTI SA Tax Director

What this position is about - Purpose:

Part of the Global Tax Deparment, the JTI SA Tax Director manages and leads JTI SA`s tax function and takes accountability and responsibility to ensure that Swiss tax aspects of all operations of JTI SA, JTI Services SA and other Swiss-based entities incorporated in Canton of Geneva are in line with Global tax strategy, operational framework and compliance standards. This position is also responsible to pro-actively identify opportunities to improve the Swiss tax efficiency of the above entities in line with Global Tax strategy and economic activities of the entities.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

in leading the Swiss Tax Function:

- Oversee the tax strategy, compliance, and operations for JTI SA, JTI Services SA, and other Swiss entities, ensuring alignment with global tax policies
- Manage the filing of Swiss tax returns, the handling of tax audits, and ensure overall tax compliance within Swiss jurisdiction (Canton of Geneva)

for the Strategic Involvement in Business Model Expansion:

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate Swiss tax considerations into JTI SA’s evolving business model, including its business development (BD) activities and developments in Reduced Risk Products (RRP)
- Evaluate the tax impact of strategic changes in JTI SA’s operational structure across different markets

regarding Global Tax Initiatives and BEPS (Base Erosion and Profit Shifting) Compliance:

- Support global tax initiatives, including those related to BEPS, and other international tax reforms to mitigate or eliminate potential tax risks for JTI SA
- Engage in managing international tax-related issues and ensure JTI SA is compliant with various tax requirements across jurisdictions

concerning Swiss Tax Law Compliance:

- Stay informed on changes to Swiss Federal and Cantonal tax legislation
- Advise senior leadership (e.g., the Finance Director) on Swiss tax implications for different transactions, accounting entries, and operational decisions
- Establish and maintain relationships with Swiss tax authorities to facilitate queries, rulings, and tax discussions, including withholding tax (WHT) issues

for Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A):

- Lead Swiss tax considerations for M&A transactions, providing advice on the domestic tax implications of mergers and acquisitions
- Collaborate with legal, finance, and other teams to assess the tax impact of M&A and provide proactive advice to minimize risks
- Offer strategic recommendations to ensure the tax structure aligns with JTI SA’s overall business and financial objectives

in terms of Project Management and Stakeholder Coordination:

- Manage tax-related projects across various functions, ensuring the implementation of tax decisions and recommendations in coordination with other departments
- Support tax-driven projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and the tax department’s strategic goals

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

- Master's degree in Law or Finance, and LLM in Tax or Swiss tax certification
- At least 10 years of experience in International and Swiss taxes in a Big Four or in a Swiss company in a similar position. Experience in dealing with Swiss Tax Authorities
- English and French fluent. German is a plus
