Monthly Closing Business Process Owner

For one of our clients, an international NGO based here in Geneva, we are looking for a:
**Monthly Closing Business Process Owner**
Temporary mission - 100%
**DESCRIPTION DE LA MISSION**:
- Assesses the operational and functional requirements of the company regarding the robustness and timeliness of the monthly closing of the accounts both from a pure accounting point of view and with respect to the role the monthly actuals form an important element of the organization's ability to manage its finances ;
- Reviews the current process for collecting accounting transactions from all channels (accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger) and the processes for the closing of the accounts on a monthly basis, including the incorporation of accruals ;
- Identifies bottlenecks, inefficiencies and areas for improvement ;
- Reviews the areas where monthly accruals are missing and for the most material ones, identifies solutions that can be implemented quickly with the minimum of effort ;
- Builds consensus among a diverse group of process stakeholders and facilitates resolution of challenges arising from business processes that span several functional, divisional and geographic areas of the company. Decides an appropriate course of action or escalates as appropriate ;
- Works with the accounting team to design and implement solutions to address identified issues, such as process changes, automation and the use of technology ;
- Supervises the development or modification of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for any affected processes ;
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams, such as IT and logistics, as well as finance colleagues in the Manila Financial Operations Team and HQ, to ensure alignment and consistency in the new process ;
- Defines metrics to monitor monthly closing performance against accepted standards (e.g. Lean and Six Sigma) ;
- For the implementation of process changes, designs and develops training materials to ensure all stakeholders are trained and are included in overall FAD training strategy ;
- Proposes or oversees updates to the Service Level Agreement with the FAD FSS, in particular the Statement of Work for the monthly closing and related KPIs ;
- Provides regular updates to management on project status, including achievements, challenges and recommendations.
**PROFIL ATTENDU**:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred, but not required ;
- 7+ years of experience in accounting or finance, including business process design or re-engineering where a focus on closing processes and accruals would be an advantage ;
- Formal Business Improvement accreditation would be an asset e.g. Lean/Six Sigma Black/Green belt ;
- Proven experience in taking the initiative and driving change ;
- Successful experience in working well with a wide variety of stakeholders ;
- Experience in the humanitarian or not-for-profit sector, in particular in the field, would be an advantage.
