**Your role**
- The Data Center Global Engineer is the lead engineer for the Data Center Services Engineering function who has responsibility for the design and specification of all UBS Data Center and Co-Location technical white spaces where UBS technology is present. Additionally, the Global Data Center Engineering Lead will manage a team of regional Data Center Engineers
- The Lead Data Center Engineer will interface directly with UBS Real Estate, Mechanical and Electrical, and Physical Security representatives as well as Data Center and Co-Location vendor representatives and collaborate on the selection, engineering, and build out of specific UBS Data Center locations the creation of Data Center design elements, and advise the UBS IT Project Management community on DC Build outs / technical implementations.
**Your team**
- You'll be working as part of a global the Data Centre Service Management team, responsible for defining the global Data Centre strategy, engineering standards, and working with stakeholders and partners across the business. Every day you will interact with colleagues across regions,no two days will be the same.
**Your expertise**
- design and layout of Data Center IT & M&E Infrastructure, Critical Equipment Rooms, Hub Closets, Point of Presence Rooms and fiber and copper Cabling Plants
- liaise with UBS Corporate Real Estate representatives and provide IT oversite in the build-out of Data Centers, IT rooms and related M&E solutions
- assess Impact of Data Center M&E solutions on IT product deployments. (power, cooling, construction, fire supression, etc).
- create and maintain IT designs and standards specific for all critical IT spaces
- provide design support for the DC Engineers
- improve capacity management tooling and introduce / evolve automation processes within existing toolsets
- provide product management and solution developments within the technical white space. (including IT placement, IT cable plant and management tools) for Office Facility build-outs
- maintain awareness of technical solution for Data Center products, (inc. product developments, product lifecycle, industry standards and financial implications).
Experience & Skills:
- at least 5 years experience working in the area of Data Center IT deployment, low voltage IT Cabling space, (Fibre and copper cable plant design within Data Centers & Office Facilities) and IT and M&E infrastructure while interfacing across Real Estate, IT & clients streams
- excellent knowledge of Core Technology, Network, End-user and Server hosting platforms and Infrastructure strategies
- technically orientated, diligent, and capable of working across multiple concurrent projects in multiple time zones.
- experience in the management of Data Center technical white space is a plus
- knowledge of Uptime Standards, ASHRAE and TIA design standards for Data Centers is a plus
- strong written and verbal communicator, comfortable interacting with colleagues at all levels, strong interpersonal/soft skills
- strong Project Management skills, comfortable in managing complex and multifaceted projects for the co-ordination and implementation of designed solutions, can switch gears and adjust priorities to hit a moving target
