**Organization**

**Responsibilities**:
The Team Lead Data Science will be responsible for leading a team of 4 dedicated expert data scientists. You will be part of the Translational Biomarker Group whose members scientifically and experimentally engage in discovery and early development teams to solve project related questions. You identify opportunities and assist the other members of the Translational Biomarker Group in identifying opportunities for advanced computational approaches. By working closely together with other functions in scientific computing and (biomedical) statistics in a matrix you will lead in reporting and discussing decisional data to projects teams.
You understand the fundamental challenges in pharmaceutical R&D and will focus on driving data science forward with your team by defining and prioritizing data analyses of internal and external data sets. You will develop and retain talent in the data science team. Preferably you have applied key aspects of data science in early clinical development, specifically in the area of oncology with demonstrated understanding of medical and clinical aspects.

The Team Lead Data Science will be further responsible for:

- Driving the exploration and validation of novel drug targets and/or biomarkers
- Liaise with drug discovery teams on experimental design and strategies for preclinical and clinical studies
- Continuous improvement of procedures; evaluation, validation and implementation of new tools and methodologies
- Developing and constantly innovating the Translational Biomarker strategy for Idorsia with Translational Biomarker Group members
- Documenting, reporting and communicating results to the teams.
- Publishing, presenting, and discussing scientific results in international meetings, be a representative of the Biomarker strategy in Idorsia towards an international expert audience.
- Guide and collaborate in developing standardized analysis workflows for data storage, data management, data retrieval with queries, data visualization and biological data interpretation based on the biological questions
- A PhD in bioinformatics or any other relevant life sciences discipline with demonstrated experience in computational approaches.
- Experience in one or more therapeutic areas of interest to Idorsia (CNS, immunology, oncology and CV/fibrosis) would be an advantage.
- Proficient in the English language. German and/or French would be an advantage.
- Expert knowledge in omics information resources and more advanced pathway / biological network analysis as well as cross-omics integrative analyses
- Demonstrated leadership skills in an industrial environment. Key principles are: leading, not managing; coach and develop talents; able to prioritize.
- Demonstrated experience of working in multicultural, multidisciplinary and matrix environments.
- Result -oriented and problem-solver with a good understanding of biology in multiple therapeutic areas preferably with experience in a medical setting.
- Strong background in computational analysis, experienced in statistical analysis with good scripting and programming skills (e.g., shell, R, Python, java)
- Dynamic team player with excellent communication and networking skills, flexible mindset and scientifically curious.
