Research Assistant/ Lab Manager

The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) is seeking a motivated and skilled **Research Assistant/Lab Manager** - as maternity cover for nine months - to join the Translational Group working in close collaboration with the IOB Retinal Organoid Platform.
IOB is a research institute combining basic and clinical research. Its mission is to drive innovations in understanding vision and its diseases and develop new therapies for vision loss. It is a place where your expertise will be valued, your abilities challenged, and your knowledge expanded.
**Your responsibilities**
- Order of consumables according to project demands
- Coordination of new Lab Equipment and Demo Devices for the group as well as external collaborators
- Approval and allocation of Invoices
- Oversee group budget
- Maintenance of Databases and Lab Equipment
- In vitro culture of human pluripotent stem cells and derivation of retinal organoids
- Support in analysis of retinal organoids by various histology and microscopy techniques
- Performing proof-of-concept gene correction experiments on organoid model
- Provide input in improving cell culture procedures
- Write GLP compliant experiment reports
- Close collaboration with group members and IOB groups
- Involvement in the translation of cutting-edge precision gene therapies
**Requirements**:
- You have 3+ years of experience in a biology relevant lab including BSL-2 level and hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Biology, biochemistry or related field
- Highly organised, detail-oriented and skilled with computers
- Experience with human cell culture, preferably stem cells
- Willingness to work with human tissue and standard hazardous laboratory compounds
- Experience with organoids is an advantage
- Experience in clinical research or clinical translation is an advantage
- Excellent communication in English and German
- Ability to work in a team and independently
