We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join the Ophthalmic Translational Research Group.

Your position
  • Key person for lab organization and administration
  • Perform molecular biology experiments (cloning, DNA, RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, sample preparation for sequencing)
  • Perform histology on tissue samples, including sectioning, immunostaining, and confocal imaging
  • Perform cell culture (standard cell lines, iPSC, iPSC-derived cells)
  • Quantify images using pre-defined algorithms
  • Prepare GLP compliant reports
  • Keep an overview of the budget and handle orders for the group
  • Collaborate closely with group members and other IOB groups and platforms
Your profile
  • Biologielaborant/in (or equivalent education) or Bachelor's/Master's Degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in ophthalmology or a similar research field
  • Strong experience of cell biology, molecular biology, and biological research
  • Enthusiasm to support the research activities of the group through detailed lab organization
  • Ability to follow GLP compliant SOPs and precision in documenting findings and preparing reports
  • Independence in planning, execution, analysis, and troubleshooting of standard molecular biology experiments
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and computer skilled
  • Prior experience in Lab Organization
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in oral and written English and German
