The position is located in the Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Sanitation Sub-Unit, Engineering Unit, Buildings and Engineering Section, Central Support Services, Division of Administration of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG). The incumbent reports to the Supervisor of the Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Sanitation Sub-Unit and the Chief of Engineering Unit.

**Responsibilities**:
Under the general guidance of the Supervisor of the Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Sanitation Sub-Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
(1) Surveillance and continuous monitoring:

- Programmes electronic processing and remote control equipment, allowing for the collection of as much useful information as possible on the functioning of technical equipment such as heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and lighting systems and ensuring that their operation is efficiently monitored;
- Assists in the implementation of surveillance and control equipment and serves, on a rotating basis, as Control Centre duty officer, responsible for: supervision of the functioning of technical equipment using visualization systems; remote control of the start-up and regulation of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and lighting systems connected to the Control Centre; programming of automatic controls;
- Assists with implementation of equipment, centralization and distribution of information and telephone requests for assistance;
- Within the framework of the help-desk system, centralizes information and telephone requests, sorts them according to urgency and nature, and ensures that a logbook is kept;
- Follows up on all troubleshooting and installation work for air-conditioning and surveillance systems that the Control Centre is asked to perform, and monitors work on air-conditioning and surveillance systems that is contracted out to external service providers.

(2) Maintenance and repair work:

- Coordinates adjustments, emergency repair work and periodic maintenance for system control equipment;
- Carries out, on-site, necessary adjustment, calibration and measurement activities;
- Repairs electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic and aeraulic equipment used to adjust and regulate ventilation, heating, air-conditioning and lighting systems (several thousand items of equipment);
- Undertakes periodic maintenance of all control, regulation and measurement equipment.

3) Installation work:

- Contributes to the study and implementation of improvements and extensions to Control Centre resources;
- Contributes to the study and preparation of installation work contracted out to external service providers, the drafting of plans and diagrams and the choice of materials;
- Makes adjustments and improvements, particularly adjustments to control and automation panels in the Control Centre, and may be required to draw up diagrams him/herself;
- Updates plans of installations and electrical panel diagrams;
- Prepares requests for the procurement of electrical, electronic and pneumatic equipment and checks receipt of the requested equipment.

(4) Other duties:

- Manages and monitors energy consumption with a view to preventing unforeseen increases in consumption, and reports any anomalies to his/her supervisor;
- Compiles information useful for the formulation of operating statistics;
- Contributes to the management of spare parts stock and keeps inventories;
- Coordinates the activities of Centralized Technical Management (CTM) mechanics in the absence of the supervisor of the Mechanics Sub-Unit and the Control Centre;
- Performs any other duties as required by supervisors.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Job - Specific Qualification
Training in technical management of office and industrial buildings and/or buildings management systems, specialization in mechanics, heating and plumbing or equivalent is desirable.

Work Experience
At least five (5) years of experience in carrying out works in one of the following positions : building mechanic, heating technician, air-conditioning technician, electrician, automation technician or electronics technician is required.

At least three (3) years of experience in the United Nations common system is desirable.

Experience in technical building management is desirable.

Experience in building energy optimization (heating, ventilation, air-conditioning or lighting systems) is desirable.

Experience within the maintenance department of a building management/central
