Your ‘day to day’
As Manager Qualitative Science, you will support R&D and the Consumer Sciences team in Innovation projects and strategic research with regards to new qualitative approaches: Implementing methodologies to understand technical product features and barriers driving consumer experience and providing understanding of the relationship of people and technologies/products and guiding R&D in the very early stages of Development. You will also work with external Market research suppliers.
More specifically, you'll
- Ensure appropriate test methodologies for qualitative consumer research through discussions with Consumer Sciences Technical Stream leads, R&D Project/Platform Leaders and Smoke-Free Products (SFP) Consumer Insights & Analytics Managers.
- Develop plans, prepare, brief and partner with external agencies/suppliers, and appropriately report qualitative discussion groups to a high standard in order to uncover consumer preferences and understanding.
- Lead, staff and develop a motivated, skilled and efficiently resourced team to ensure that performance levels and professional development achieve or exceed business objectives. Ensure long term business sustainability including appropriate On and Of job training and advancement/succession planning. Set clear objectives and measure results for direct reports. Ask and provide constructive feedback on a regular basis.
- Ensure implementation and use of standard methodologies, following ethics & compliance guidance.
- Develop and implement new methodologies for greater insight and ensuring consumer / market relevance.
- Oversee the creation of a dedicated Consumer Space in the Cube in Switzerland to bring consumers within R&D for early fast prototyping tests.
- Carry out all of the team's activities ensuring that PMI Compliance Policies, standards, and laws relating to these activities are fully respected, integrated and understood, as well as implement adequate processes to ensure confidentiality of information.
Who we’re looking for
- Master's Degree or equivalent experience in Consumer Sciences (also called Consumer Technical Insights or Product Experience design), Market Research, Behavior, Cognitive Psychology or Social Sciences.
- Advanced diploma (PhD or MBA) is an asset.
- Minimum 8 years experience delivering Qualitative Science in a fast-evolving, fast-to-deliver, consumer centric, regulated consumer goods environment.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
