Unctad - Editorial and Content Internship in The

This position is located in the Communications and External Relations, Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
The duration of the internship will be of an initial period of three months with possibility of extension up to six months. The starting date is as soon as possible.
Training and mentoring will be provided all along the internship by the supervisor (s) and team of colleagues in the Office.
**Responsibilities**:
At an exciting time for UNCTAD, with renewed leadership and workplan, we are looking for talented, creative individuals passionate about sustainable development and interested in trade, to support the communications team of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development with following functions:
- Assist in developing content related to sustainable development, trade, investment, the digital economy and related topics to increase awareness and understanding of the work of UNCTAD among key audiences.
- Assist in drafting and editing publications, factsheets, brochures, newsletters and other products for internal and external audiences.
- Fact-check and proofread digital editorial work for textual and visual accuracy.
- Conduct first edits on copy for print and web outlets.
- Provide support on multiple tasks related to preparing stories for print and digital outlets.
More generally, interns shall:
1. Observe all applicable rules, regulations, instructions, procedures and directives of the Organization notwithstanding their status as described in section 4 of the UN Internship Programme Administrative Instructions ST/AI/2000/9 & ST/AI/2005/11.
2. Provide the receiving departments/offices with a copy of all materials prepared by them during the internship. The UN shall be entitled to all property rights, including but not limited to patents, copyrights and trademarks, with regard to material which bears a direct relation to or is made in consequence of, the services provided under the internship. At the request of the UN, the interns shall assist in securing such property rights and transferring them to the UN in compliance with the requirements of the applicable law.
3. Respect the impartiality and independence required of the UN and of the receiving department/office and shall not seek or accept instructions regarding the services performed under the internship agreement from any Government or from any authority external to the UN.
5. Refrain from any conduct that would adversely reflect on the UN or on the receiving department/office and will not engage in any activity which is incompatible with the aims and objectives of the UN.

Education
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
- Be enrolled, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
The intern is also required to have:
- excellent verbal and written communications skills;
- good analytical skills;
- related experience in gathering and consolidating data for practical implementation;
A degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Writing, International Relations, Science or related field is an asset.
Work Experience
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French or Spanish is an asset.
