**ABOUT US**
The WHO Foundation (WHOF), launched in May 2020 and headquartered in Geneva, was created as an independent Swiss foundation affiliated with but independent of WHO. Its mission is to mobilize greater private capital and partnership to advance the mission of the World Health Organization (WHO), enabling catalytic impact on the people whose lives rely on WHO’s work and facilitating innovation to maximize the impact of the resources we invest.
WHOF was therefore created as an independent Swiss foundation affiliated with but independent of WHO to marshal new resources from philanthropists, foundations, businesses, and individuals to support its mission: promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable, while protecting the neutrality and independence of WHO as the world’s leading health authority. WHOF is a nexus for unique opportunities in global health, facilitating game-changing opportunities between the private sector and WHO. Our focus is on mobilizing grant income, shared value partnerships, and investment to power WHO’s work.
**PURPOSE**
The Prospect Researcher will be responsible for developing, implementing, and executing a comprehensive prospect research strategy that aligns with WHOF’s fundraising goals and aspirations. This role is pivotal in identifying potential funding sources, including corporations, ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs), philanthropic organizations, and charitable trusts. As an integral member of the Development team, the Prospect Researcher will contribute to shaping the fundraising strategy and collaborate closely with fundraisers to achieve ambitious income targets. Additionally, this position will involve managing critical information and ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance. **REPORTS TO**
The Prospect Researcher will report to the Chief Development Officer and collaborate closely with colleagues across the globe.
**ACCOUNTABILITIES & FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Analysis and Decision Making**:
- Utilise, review and adapt prospect rating systems that gauge the capacity and propensity of potential donors to give, as well as indicating their affinity for, and engagement with the Foundation.
- Support with the creation of prospect lists, income pipelines, and gift tables for specific areas of work and funding priorities.
- Present the results of this analysis through a variety of formats (including written reports and presentations), in a clear and well-structured manner, for a range of different audiences.
**Strategy and Planning**:
- Help to develop a full, proactive and growth focused prospect research strategy, managing its effective implementation, and ensuring that the strategy fits with WHOF’s fundraising plans and current strategic priorities.
- Use the latest technology and tools to research trends in global health and identify prospects and their priorities.
**Prospect Identification**:
- Identify prospective individual, trust & foundation, and corporate donors for WHOF, cross-referencing information from our supporter database, corporate databases, international media, and biographical sources.
- Independently conduct further in-depth research on prospective donors and contacts, identifying qualified leads with a demonstrated interest in supporting our key projects and strategic priorities.
- Build, track and report on pools of prospective donors for each of WHOF’s strategic priorities, ensuring delivery of qualified prospects at various gift levels, to meet fundraising ambitions.
- Support front line fundraisers to develop their prospect pools through network mapping and other acquisition focused research.
- Proactively engage with sectoral philanthropic trends and developments within prospect research, highlighting opportunities for future fundraising growth. This would include regular assessment of regional and global philanthropic trends, insight on transformational donations, and global wealth insights.
**Prospect Management**:
- Make information based recommendations in support of the assignment and cultivation of new prospects, and to the management of key donor relationships.
- Ensure that each fundraiser has a varied and dynamic prospect portfolio, optimised to meet fundraising targets.
- Assist with conducting regular portfolio and pipeline review meetings, providing support and guidance to fundraisers around effective moves management and donor cultivation strategy.
- Provide fundraisers with timely, accurate and relevant information about the contacts that they manage, including research updates, and the creation of meeting and event briefings.
