Your ‘day to day’

As a Principal Scientist - Standards you will develop and maintain PMI product Internal Standards and help transpose them into product compliance cards used to guide product development colleagues. You will provide guidance to product developers on assessment strategy and define minimum quality/safety parameters to be characterized, help author sections of regulatory submissions and answer relevant question from authorities. You will represent PMI in international standard organizations such as ISO, CORESTA or CEN.

More specifically, you'll
- Define, develop and drive deploy company-wide agile product standards strategies in close partnership with various functions to ensure minimum quality, safety and performance requirements are set for all smoke free product categories taking into account external regulatory requirements and well-established standards. Lead teams with or without direct authority to achieve standards management objectives.
- Provide business risk/benefit impact of proposed standards to support decision making and prioritization for standards implementation.
- Translate product standards requirements to compliance cards to ensure that products fulfil these requirements before launch.
- Provide regulatory submission content for aerosol physical and chemical characterization.
- Develop strategies for comparability to support claim substantiation and change management for product variants.
- Keep abreast of external standards development for smoke free products, assess implications of these standards on product and analytical development, and lead strategic alignment with these standards and their adoption.
- Develop scientific responses to regulatory inquiries around tobacco, and smoke free products through scientific substantiation and sound data analysis.
- Represent PMI in well recognized external bodies, participate as a Member of Working Group, and leader of workstream, for the development of testing standards, guide or technical report.

Who we’re looking for
- PhD, Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics.
- Substantial experience in tobacco research, product development, tobacco process technology, breeding, agronomy research or regulatory and standards management, as well as toxicology.
- Good knowledge of Quality Management Systems such as GLP, GMP, GCP, ISO.
- Demonstrated expertise working within multidisciplinary collaborations and with external partners. Active listening, ability to motivate others, solve conflicts, take quality/timely decisions. Perspective, critical thinking, planning skills, process and results orientation, as well project management skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
