About the team you are joining

The Industry Architecture and Global Standards Team, within IATA’s Financial Settlement and Distribution Services division, is responsible for supporting the airline industry’s shift toward full digitalization of Airlines Retailing by developing IATA’s airline Industry Data Model (AIDM) as the main enabler of the industry messaging standards development. The team is currently seeking a passionate expert in Business and Information Data modeling and Technology Architecture. The role will require an appropriate tradeoff between governance and innovation needs of the business to model critical data and information based on industry-agreed vocabulary and develop secure and efficient messaging standards and technological frameworks.

What your day would be like

You will report to the Senior Manager Technology Standards and you will be responsible for modeling business and technical data requirements required by industry standards groups and developing associated data exchange specifications such as XML, JSON, JSON-LD and API schemas and maintaining the enterprise.

You will use the AIDM and associated methodology to produce artifacts to fulfil the requirements set by the industry standards groups. You will also present the proposals to Airlines and System Providers (members of industry standards groups) to gather feedback and facilitate ownership.
- Responsible for modeling business and data requirements and developing associated data exchange specifications for standards development.
- Ensure that proposed amendments to data exchange standards are interoperable and fully integrated in the Airline Industry Data Model (AIDM).
- Participate in improving and implementing industry standards development methodology as well as associated tools and best practices.
- Work closely with Industry Architects to improve and maintain conceptual, logical and physical and metadata layers of AIDM.
- Provide support, guidance, and advice to industry working groups developing new data exchange standards, supports the groups in their effort to document and analyze business requirements and understand the impact of the changes managed/envisaged by on the interoperability with a specific focus on business process integration, data and technology interoperability.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal colleagues and industry representatives of working groups developing requirements for new messages by guiding them through the approach, methodology with aim to reduce data redundancy, streamline data exchanges and improve industry information management practices.

You have a passion and strong experience leading Architecture and Data Modeling for Digital Transformation initiatives involving information and data governance and bring energy and enthusiasm to the role.

We are looking for someone with 5+ years with proven experience in Business analysis, information Technology and data modeling in digital transformation, and a hands-on, pragmatic attitude. Specifically, you should have:

- University degree in Computer Sciences or similar discipline with at least five years of experience with Digital information and data modeling. Experience within airline industry or IT aviation system provider is desirable.
- Practical experience with data modeling and related frameworks and technologies is a must. Expertise in BPMN (2.0). UML, XML, JSON, APIs, Enterprise Architecture tools (i.e., SPARX EA) modelling and web services would be an advantage.
- Experience in gathering and documenting business requirements across many stakeholders and ability to facilitate workshops to drive practical outcomes/actions based on consensus.
