**Background & Purpose**:
We are seeking a passionate and influential Sustainable Packaging Lead to join our R&D team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing global and EMEA sustainability strategies and solutions that reduce environmental impact and promote a circular economy. You will work across R&D, Procurement, and Commercial organizations to build sustainable packaging capabilities, and champion a network to drive circular packaging principles across the globe. Embracing our Healthy Lives Mission commitment, the Sustainable Packaging Scientist will be responsible for developing brand portfolio technical glidepaths and guiding project teams with future-fit packaging solutions that meet our business objectives while minimizing our environmental impact

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead Implement EMEA sustainable packaging strategy that aligns with corporate sustainability goals.
- Bring an outside-in focus: lead external technical partnerships focused in region to guide future-fit packaging portfolios
- Work with franchise teams to create brand development glidepaths to achieve plastic and paper commitments
- Leverage your EMEA expertise to win at global level. Collaborate with ESG to create corporate policy guidance on packaging sustainability support external reporting.
- Conduct research and development of innovative sustainable packaging materials and technologies, recycled plastics, renewable feedstocks, and recyclable formats.
- Evaluate packaging materials and technologies for their environmental impact, functionality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Steering sustainable product innovation through Ecodesign, LCA evaluations, and packaging metrics
- Develop joint-value creation with suppliers to source sustainable packaging materials and technologies, and ensure compliance with our sustainability standards.
- Externally scout and partner with sustainable packaging materials and technologies, and provide thought leadership on sustainability trends and issues.

**Qualifications**:

- 5+ years of experience and proven ability in sustainable packaging development, with a focus on global markets.
- Strong technical knowledge of packaging materials and technologies, recycled and recyclable content
- Experience with lifecycle assessment and sustainability metrics.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Working knowledge of product sustainability, circular economy, and the impact on the environment
