Carbon Information Manager

Accurate tracking and reporting of carbon data is essential to Glencore’s ability to manage carbon across the business, track and demonstrate compliance with its climate commitments, meet external reporting requirements and respond accurately to climate regulations and associated taxes. The Carbon Information Manager will deliver a transformation of carbon tracking and reporting across all emission scopes at Glencore’s industrial and marketing activities. The Carbon Information Manager will be part of the Finance function.

**The main tasks and responsibilities**

Review and Improve Carbon Data Collection Approach:

- Assess the current carbon management approach, data collection methods, and reporting processes
- Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement in capturing carbon data across the organizations value chains
- Develop and implement a standardized and coherent business process for carbon information management
- Ensure reporting alignment with regulatory requirements, best practices, and industry standards
- Integrate carbon accounting, carbon taxation and carbon offsets and rollout a single data platform for carbon data and reporting to meet internal and external stakeholder requirements

Integration with ERP Systems:

- Collaborate with IT and existing ERP teams to integrate carbon reporting systems with existing business processes and ERP platforms
- Ensure seamless data flow and integration between carbon data and other relevant systems, such as finance, procurement, and operations
- Implement appropriate data validation and verification mechanisms to ensure accuracy and reliability of carbon information
- Work closely with IT teams to resolve technical issues and optimize data exchange processes

Change Management and Stakeholder Engagement:

- Drive change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption and integration of the new carbon information management process
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to communicate the benefits, goals, and requirements of the new system
- Provide training and support to end-users to ensure effective utilization of the carbon reporting system

Compliance with Carbon Taxes:

- Keep business informed on carbon tax regulations and reporting requirements in relevant jurisdictions
- Collaborate with finance and legal teams to ensure compliance with carbon tax obligations
- Develop and maintain processes for accurately calculating and reporting carbon tax liabilities
- Provide guidance and support in responding to audits or inquiries related to carbon taxes

Carbon Data Tracking and Analysis:

- Design and implement systems to track carbon data across the organizations value chains, including suppliers and distribution networks
- Analyse carbon data to identify trends, hotspots, and opportunities for emission reduction
- Provide regular and ad-hoc reports on carbon performance to internal and external stakeholders

**Minimum requirements**
- Bachelors degree in environmental science, financial accounting, or a related field. A masters degree is preferred
- Proven experience in carbon reporting, data management, and sustainability
- Strong understanding of carbon accounting methodologies, reporting frameworks, and regulations, including carbon taxes
- Knowledge of financial accounting
- Familiarity with product life cycle assessment (LCA) methodologies and tools for calculating carbon footprints
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools to derive insights from carbon data
- Excellent project management skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
