**How will your role help us transform hope into reality?**
Blueprint Medicines is on a journey to becoming a global biopharmaceutical company and is looking for a talented International Medical Affairs leader to help further build the company outside the USA. This follows the establishment of an International head office in Zug, Switzerland, and affiliates in key European countries.
The successful applicant will be responsible for leading and further developing the International Medical Affairs function. This broad, exciting, and challenging position offers the opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of a truly innovative biopharmaceutical company and make a real difference to patients’ lives.
**What will you do?**
- Develop and execute International Medical Affairs strategy and key tactics in alignment with global medical teams and product plan strategic imperatives.
- Lead and manage International Medical Affairs team, including country medical teams through direct line management of the Local Operating Cluster (LOC) Medical Affairs Directors
- Develop and direct field based medical affairs strategies and tactics. This includes thought leader engagement; medical conference exhibits and support; and other activities conducted by the Medical Affairs and field team, as such ensuring effective and compliant scientific exchange with key opinion leaders (KOLs), investigators, advocacy groups, clinicians, and other external and internal stakeholders
- Partner with internal stakeholders / functions and strongly advocate for International imperatives; contribute to and align with global plans and corporate strategy and goals
- Identify data/evidence gaps that will impact success and propose solutions to address these.
- Collaborate closely with the global Health Economics and Outcome Research (HEOR) function to support the development and execution of Real-World Evidence (RWE),
- Collaborate with the Pricing & Market Access (P&MA) function and provide medical expertise to help shape P&MA strategies and deliverables (eg/ Dossiers etc.).
- Be an active member of the International Leadership Team (ILT) and other governance bodies, including the Global Medical Affairs leadership team (GMALT)
- Participate in discussions with Global R&D colleagues to ensure that Medical Affairs perspectives are incorporated into global development plans and registration strategies.
- Ensure International needs are presented in the development of global projects, including Publication Planning, Advisory Boards, Educational Programs, Conferences, etc.
- Establish connections with the broader medical community and exchange scientific knowledge with global and regional opinion leaders.
- In collaboration with Global Medical Affairs, ensure provision of Medical Information services.
- Ensure International representation in the development of global projects, including Publication Planning, Advisory Boards, Educational Programs, Conferences.
- Develop key medical/scientific external messaging for disease and products.
- Ensure provision of disease-state and product training for internal functions, as needed.
- In collaboration with the Global Medical Affairs, ensure compliant management of managed access programs in the international region.
- Leverage medical knowledge to provide support business development activities.
- Develop and effectively manage budget and operating plan for International Medical Affairs.
**What minimum qualifications do we require?**
- 10+ years medical affairs or clinical experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- MD, PharmD or PhD, with Oncology a/o Rare Disease experience is preferred
- 10+ years medical affairs or clinical experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Track record of success in building and leading high-performance teams, and strong managerial experience essential. Previous experience leading MSL teams is an advantage. Able to attract, develop, inspire, and retain key talent.
- Ability to think innovatively about strategy and anticipate future consequences and trends.
- Strong leadership abilities and a strategic business perspective to bring products forward successfully.
- Ability to lead by example and model collaborative behavior by soliciting opinions; effective in getting teams behind the decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to influence cross-functionally, and with senior management. Possess executive presence.
- Strong analytical skills, especially in interpreting clinical literature and data.
- Nimble and energetic in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment. Capable of taking a hands-on approach and willing to “roll up sleeves”.
