Voice, Inclusion & Cohesion (VIC) is one of the three thematic working areas of HELVETAS. The VIC team provides advisory services to HELVETAS programmes and to external clients. It consists of around nine highly motivated and qualified experts that focus on the thematic working fields: governance& civic space, conflict transformation, migration, as well as gender and social inclusion and advocacy.

The VIC Head plays a combined role as team leader (mentoring, supervising, budgeting, providing strategic direction) and as a thematic advisor, providing relevant services to internal and external clients, leading acquisition efforts, and furthering our expertise in selected working fields.

**YOUR MAIN TASKS**:
As Head of the VIC team, your main tasks include:

- Develop and enhance the impact of the working area and the team including leading the elaboration of strategic documents
- Assure the thematic quality of our projects and programmes in the domain of Voice, Inclusion & Cohesion
- Steer the further development of the thematic working area
- Provide leadership to the VIC team and create a positive work environment
- Contribute to the development of a balanced portfolio that ensures financial viability of the team
- Lead knowledge management processes that enhance the organisational expertise and external profiling of the working area

Your main tasks as Thematic Advisor include:

- Provide VIC-related services to a variety of internal and external clients in the areas of your own core competence. This will include frequent travel abroad including to fragile
- Position HELVETAS in relevant international forums as a competent and experienced organization in the VIC domain
- Mentor and support thematic advisors both at head office and abroad, with a view to ensuring a high level of quality of our work in general and the successful implementation of VIC-specific tasks in particular

**YOUR QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Master’s degree in political science, anthropology, international relations or other relevant studies, optional a PhD related to the working area
- At least ten years of experience in development including at least five years continuous long-term assignments in the Global South / East and experience in short term consultancy assignments
- Excellent knowledge of and experience in and/or interfaces between governance & civic space; migration; and conflict transformation
- Expertise in Gender & Social Inclusion, Advocacy and Humanitarian Development Nexus would be an asset
- Knowledge on capacity development of local organizations, facilitation and training skills and the ability to establish and maintain good advisor-client relationships
- Conceptual, methodological competencies in development cooperation & analytical strength
- Excellent listening and advisory skills, intercultural and gender sensitivity, able to establish and maintain a good advisor-client relationship
- Excellent spoken and written English, German, Spanish and/or French.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills in a complex environment; ability to coach and support staff and cultivate positive team spirit.
- Adaptability to a variety of working environments in international settings
