Position: Freelance Teaching Centre Director

The role oversees EF Teach Online’s remote, worldwide freelance teaching operations, managing all aspects of an entity with an independent contractor pool of 600 plus teachers, plus management of the UK-based teachers. The centre recently launched a new teaching service, meaning that a focus on effective operational scaling/team building is needed.

The ability to drive new business developments will also be a part of the role as we look to expand our operations.

Experience with large-scale remote, independent contractor operations is a big plus.

**This role will be based in our Zurich office.**

**Responsibilities**:

- Oversight of Contracts, Academics and Operations teams
- Process Improvement
- Service Optimization and Scaling
- Teacher Management
- Management of Independent Contractors
- Budget Oversight
- Large Scale Recruitment
- Data Analytics
- Conflict Resolution
- Risk and Crisis Management
- Implementation of company policy.
- Maintenance of multiple reporting lines across multiple countries and business functions (operations, finance, etc.)
- Ensuring a high level of output quality inter alia by setting and maintaining staff quality

Essential Requirements:

- C1-level English.
- University graduate, preferably with a Business degree/coursework (or equivalent experience) or MBA/relevant graduate degree.
- Experience with workflow design/large scale people operations.
- Experience with management of both Employees and Independent Contractors.
- Well-developed staff management skills, ideally including managing supervisors.
- Experience in drafting contracts and handling compliance issues in multiple jurisdictions.
- Proven track record in staff recruitment, preferably with teachers or contractors
- Quantitative orientation with experience in controlling costs/budget, improving process efficiencies, scaling operations, and improving customer satisfaction with verifiable results.
- Experience in liaising with multiple international teams regarding recruitment, finance, academics, and operations.

Preferred but not required:

- EdTech industry experience.
- Experience with remote workers and/or independent contractors.
- Experience with contract issues and/or Customer Service responsibilities.
- Experience with market expansion.
- Experience with launching new offices and teams.
