**Join Swiss Re and be responsible for underwriting and growing the Wholesale sourced transactional book for the Onshore Energy team, within the definition of the Swiss Re business segmentation. The position includes underwriting and marketing tasks as well as the administration of your own client portfolio. You will work across a number of the Energy classes (Power, Mining, Offshore).**

**You will get an opportunity to represent Swiss Re in the London Wholesale Market and be a crucial part of a successful team, within a technically growing and exciting industry segment.**

**About the role**:
The underwriting component involves the analysis of coverages (Property Damage and Business Interruption), exposures, wordings, premium and the technical insurability of risks. These types of risks predominantly comprise of refineries, petrochemical plants and pipeline companies. An important part of your job will be the negotiation of terms and conditions with both clients and brokers. You will be responsible for the appropriate contractual documentation of the risks covered.

The marketing component of your job will consist of working with existing and prospective brokers and clients to develop new business and profitably grow the book of business. Along with the team you will be responsible for maintaining and developing strategic relationships with key broker producers and clients, and, where necessary, making presentations about our underwriting capabilities. You will also be expected to coordinate with various other underwriters in Swiss Re to maximize cross-selling opportunities.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Responsible for underwriting and maintaining a profitable account.
- Working with the team in London and Zurich and using resources elsewhere in the Group (Products/Risk Engineering/Claims/Actuarials).
- Negotiating final terms & conditions with the broker in line with the business plan and corporate guidelines requirements.
- Servicing post underwriting needs.
- Attending site inspections where necessary.
- Assisting in Credit Control Issues.
- Contributing to the operational needs of the Team - individual and departmental.
- Providing input into planning and other reporting requirements.
- Working with underwriting assistants to ensure accurate recording of data on the SR systems.

**About you**:

- General (re)insurance knowledge with a minimum 2 - 5 years underwriting experience, mainly in Onshore Energy.
- Progression to ACII useful, but not essential.
- Highly motivated individual, with a willingness to travel.
- Solid and relevant market contacts
- Strong technical understanding of standard and manuscripted forms
- Highly proficient in the use of underwriting tools and systems
- Good marketing and negotiation skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Team player
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Able to live in an atmosphere of constant change.
- Able to constantly prioritise tasks in order to manage high work load levels.
