**About City Cancer Challenge**

City Cancer Challenge Foundation (C/Can) supports cities around the world as they work to improve access to equitable, quality cancer care.

The approach is built on the core principle that cities can drive impact at national level by crafting data-driven solutions with the support of a network of global, regional, and local partners that reflect an understanding of the unique local context.

C/Can was launched by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) at the 2017 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos. It was established as a standalone Swiss Foundation in January 2019, and is now active in 11 cities around the world.

**Summary of Position**

C/Can is seeking an experienced medical professional in cancer care with a passion to pursue a career in global health. Leading C/Can’s fast-growing technical cooperation portfolio, you will harness your oncology expertise, valuable leadership skills, and network to lead a team committed to mobilising, sharing and transfer of knowledge to strengthen cities’ capacity to implement and sustain local solutions for cancer care.

This is an exciting new role with great scope to be entrepreneurial, building C/Can’s technical cooperation portfolio to deliver significant value to healthcare professionals and patients, and ultimately change the way cancer diagnosis, treatment and palliative and supportive care are addressed.

Key Responsibilities
- Set the strategic direction of C/Can’s Technical Cooperation programme supporting an integrated, scalable approach across the continuum of cancer care from diagnosis to palliative care and survivorship.
- Provide technical and managerial leadership for the Technical Cooperation team ensuring that activities in this area are carried out efficiently and effectively.
- Mobilise the global/regional health community, and identify opportunities to meet emerging technical cooperation needs, including identifying and engaging new partners, networks and platforms.
- Manage multisectoral global and regional partnerships, networks and platforms for cancer diagnosis, treatment and palliative care.
- Support the Foundation’s outreach to external donors and promote linkages with governments and key partners, to enhance political commitment and garner support towards advancing C/Can’s purpose.
- Lead and support technical dialogues with experts at the local, regional and global levels that support implementation of city priorities.
- Develop and propose strategies for implementation through collaboration with C/Can team members, city stakeholders and partners, of high-value cross-cutting products, initiatives, and partnerships to maximise the quality of project development, execution and impact.
- Review and ensure quality assurance and relevance of contractual engagements with partners and institutions.
- Lead and communicate best practices in implementing programmes and activities.
- Manage the monitoring, evaluation, risk management and reporting of technical cooperation team activities to the Board of Directors, partners and donors, and oversee changes to optimise performance and ensure technical cooperation interventions are effective, scalable and sustainable.
- Represent C/Can at relevant meetings and forums.
**Selection Criteria**

Education

Essential: A university degree in medicine and postgraduate, specialised training in oncology related to the functions of the position such as clinical, surgical or radiation oncology.

Desirable: Postgraduate qualifications in global or public health, epidemiology, health economics or related-field.

Work experience

Essential:

- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the clinical management of cancer, including experience in the area of health policies and strategies
- Demonstrated experience working in low-resource settings with culturally diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience managing human and financial resources
Desirable:

- Professional experience in coordinating and engaging with multi-stakeholder partners including UN agencies, governments, civil society and private sector
- Experience in project design and management at national or international levels
Languages
- Essential: Expert knowledge of English
- Desirable: Intermediate knowledge of Spanish
Required competences
- Concrete skills in the planning and coordination of multidisciplinary health programmes including the implementation of cancer programmes
- Strong skills in developing and establishing policies and strategies
- Excellent skills and ability to lead and manage a culturally and geographically diverse team
- Strong project management skills instilling a results-focused way of working
- Ability to engage, convene and communicate effectively and diplomatically with diverse external partners including Ministries of Healt
