**Introduction**:
With more than 17,000 students and 5’500 staff, the University of Lausanne (UNIL) is a higher teaching and research institution composed of seven faculties. Its scenic campus is situated on the shore of Lake Geneva, close to the city centre of Lausanne, and is home to over 120 nationalities.

**Presentation**:
The position is part of the research groups Urban Worlds and/or Margins, Environment, Landscapes, and is under the supervision of Dr Muriel Delabarre.

The Department of Geography and Sustainability is an interdisciplinary community of about 130 scholars working on space, place, and the environment. With 25 professors and more than 75 postgraduate students, the Department offers a vibrant, stimulating environment for cutting-edge research. It hosts regular lecture series and distinguished visiting scholars from around the world.

**Your responsibilities**:
**Your qualifications**:

- We are looking for an individual to join our team with several of the following characteristics:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in human geography, urban planning, landscape ecology or another field relevant to the position;
- Sound knowledge of landscape or urban ecology;
- Good command of empirical research;
- Experience of urban/landscape planning projects;
- Mastery of graphics tools;
- Strong interest in writing a PhD thesis in the field of urban planning;
In addition, a strong motivation to provide teaching support at Bachelor and Master's levels and good organizational skills are required.

Fluency in French is essential (French is the working language in Dr Muriel Delabarre's research group and the main language of teaching at UNIL) ; fluency in another language is an asset.

The IGD offers a stimulating environment and a culture conducive to the development of a research career. IGD members are enrolled in international research networks, and PhD assistants are encouraged and supported to participate in these networks as well as in annual conferences.

The University of Lausanne offers an excellent remuneration package and additional funds for fieldwork and conferences. In addition, various opportunities for further training are available either at UNIL or within Swiss organizations that promote doctoral research, including the doctoral schools of the University Conference of Western Switzerland (CUSO) and the International Graduate School North-South.
