The position is part of the research team

M3 (Materialities | Multiplicities | Metropolis) led by Professor Martin Müller, who will act as the PhD supervisor.

The Department of Geography and Sustainability is an interdisciplinary community of about 130 scholars working on space, place, and the environment. With 27 professors and more than 60 postgraduate students, the Department offers a vibrant and stimulating environment for cutting-edge research. It hosts regular lecture series and distinguished visiting scholars from around the world.

Duration of contract: 1 year, renewable twice for 2 years, for a maximum of 5 years
Activity rate: 80%

**Your qualifications**:
We are looking for an individual to join our team with several of the following characteristics:

- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in geography, urban studies or another field relevant to the position- Interest broadening the sources and places of urban studies
- Experience with qualitative or quantitative methods
- A desire to develop an international research profile
- Working knowledge in English and French
- Team player in a multilingual, multidisciplinary environment
- Independence and initiative
- The following are considered assets, but not requirements:
- Expertise in cities of the Global East
- Interest in issues of culture, major urban projects, or sustainability
- Experience with writing and publishing in English

**What the position offers you**:
The team led by Professor Martin Müller produces critical knowledge to think cities otherwise. Using both quantitative and qualitative methods, we take a global approach to our research, striving to address the challenges of sustainability. Our team operates primarily in English, with teaching conducted in both English and French.
