HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY TEACHER ANGLOPHONE Bilingual Secondary Section

Collège du Léman is one of Switzerland’s most prestigious international day and boarding schools, located on the edge of Lake Geneva in view of the Swiss Alps. The school helps students to find their place in the world by inspiring individual growth, academic excellence, and global citizenship. It is a truly international community with more than 150 different nationalities among the 1800-day and 240 boarding students. They come together on a green, village-like campus covering 8 hectares.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As a full-time English-speaking History and Geography teacher, you will have a good knowledge of the Swiss Maturité syllabus. Enthusiastic and qualified to teach at different levels in the French-speaking Secondary section, you will be able to motivate students regardless of their level. You will work closely with a team of colleagues in developing the French-speaking section.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will be able to combine the rigour and requirements of the French-speaking academic system with a perfect command of the English language.
- Use and develop existing resources to teach the Humanities in the Secondary section.
- Actively participate in the school life of the Secondary school and collaborate with the Humanities team.
- Promote the school's mission and vision by helping students, both external and internal, to develop their individual strengths by supporting them to become global citizens and to achieve their very best.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

Mandatory, not an option:

- University degree in History or Geography, at least a Bachelor's degree.
- Teaching qualification.
- Experience in teaching and exam classes.

Preferred:

- CAPES or pedagogical studies validated by the DIP
- Master's degree
- Teaching experience in an international school, preferably in History and Geography.
- Knowledge of Swiss Maturité programmes.

It is important that the post holder is always aware of Child Protection guidelines and observes a professional distance from students whilst still developing effective working and caring relationships.

You understand and embrace the importance of diversity and inclusion and stand against discrimination in any form. Background investigations and reference checks for the past ten years will be conducted during the selection process.

Professeur bilingue d’Histoire et de Géographie à plein temps possédant une bonne connaissance des programmes de la Maturité suisse.

TACHES PRINCIPALES

En tant que professeur d’Histoire-Géographie anglophone pour la section bilingue vous:

- Saurez allier la rigueur et les exigences du système académique francophone avec une parfaite maitrise de la langue anglaise.
- Utiliserez et développerez les ressources existantes pour enseigner les Sciences Humaines dans la section Secondaire
- Participerez activement à la vie scolaire de l’école secondaire et collaborera avec l’équipe des sciences humaines.
- Promouvrez la mission et la vision de l'école en aidant les élèves, qu'ils soient externes ou internes, à développer leurs forces individuelles en les aidant à devenir des citoyens du monde et à donner le meilleur d'eux-mêmes.

CAPACITES ET COMPETENCES REQUISES

Prérequis, ne sont pas une option:

- Diplôme universitaire en Histoire ou Géographie, au moins un Bachelor.
- Diplôme d’enseignement.
- Expérience dans l’enseignement et dans les classes d’examens.

Préféré:

- CAPES ou Etudes pédagogiques validées par le DIP
- Master Doctorat
- Expérience de l’enseignement dans une école internationale, de préférence en Histoire et Géographie.
- Connaissance des programmes de la Maturité suisse.
