- Overall responsibility for the supervision of daily Operations to ensure the desired operational performance is achieved, continuous improvement is made and staff developed through training and guidance. Working with the local Management Team, this position also contributes to the development and implementation of organisational strategies, policies and practices within Operations.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

- Ensure compliance with all company rules, departmental work instructions, processes, systems, etc.
- Ensure awareness of and enforce compliance with company operational policies procedures and operations health & safety standards. This includes random warehouse checks.
- First Escalation point to resolve any incidents and/or deviations in day-to-day Operations.
- Provide strong leadership, direction and mentoring to Operations Staff, thereby fostering and sustaining co-operation and team spirit.
- Assist Line Manager with the recruitment, orientation, training and annual performance evaluation of Operations Staff.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as required to ensure clarity of requirements, technical details, overcome problems, etc.
- To keep the Manager and other relevant managers, supervisors and departments promptly advised on all relevant matters, problems or requirements.
- Responsible for the inventory management of shipment assets, e.g. packaging, temperature monitoring devices, to ensure anticipated demand level coverage. Control and elimination of damaged or expired items from the supply chain. Submission of purchase orders upon approval by Line Manager. Acting as local contact person for questions regarding shipment assets.
- To ensure timely and accurate compliance with all administrative and reporting procedures and routines.
- To attend client and vendor meetings with management members as support in operational areas.
- Together with the Line Manager provide fortnightly (or as required) staff briefings/Operations meetings and ensure To-Do items are followed up on.
- In the absence of the Operations Manager, take the necessary steps and make the required decisions in order to maintain daily operational workflow.
- Assist with special projects as required.
**General**
- To adhere to all MARKEN Policies and procedures at all times.
- To partake in all training sessions set forth by MARKEN.
- Actively participate in scheduled meetings to discuss services & operational performance and concerns.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties at the request of the Line Manager or Branch Management.

- Knowledge of IATA and ADR Dangerous Goods Regulations
- Knowledge of Live Animals Regulations
- Knowledge of the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry
- Enhanced knowledge of Markens’ market position and Service Portfolio
- Knowledge in organisational effectiveness and operations management implementing best practices
- Dangerous Goods Qualified / DG Awareness
- Knowledge of the various country specific regulations within the Pharmaceutical supply chain
- Enhanced Clinical Trials Market Knowledge
**Skills and Abilities**
