**Organizational Context**:
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, with a network of 192-member National Societies. The overall aim of the IFRC is “to inspire, encourage, facilitate, and promote at all times all forms of humanitarian activities by National Societies with a view to preventing and alleviating human suffering and thereby contributing to the maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace in the world.” The IFRC works to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people before, during and after disasters, health emergencies and other crises.
IFRC is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (Movement), together with its member National Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The work of the IFRC is guided by the following fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.
IFRC is led by its Secretary General, and has its Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The Headquarters are organized into three main Divisions: (i) National Society Development and Operations Coordination; (ii) Global Relations, Humanitarian Diplomacy and Digitalization; and (iii) Management Policy, Strategy and Corporate Services.
IFRC has five regional offices in Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, Europe, and the Americas. IFRC also has country cluster delegation and country delegations throughout the world. Together, the Geneva Headquarters and the field structure (regional, cluster and country) comprise the IFRC Secretariat.
**Job Purpose**:
The Intern will support the Global Surge team in the management of the rapid response management system (surge database) emergency deployments, information management, organization of events and learning initiatives and reporting. This includes manage the process of consolidating information regarding global surge deployments and general organization of surge trainings (face to face and online).
**Job Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Information Management**:
- Consolidate, develop and analyse statistics & information on Disaster Response Global Tools (Rapid response rosters, ERU, HEOps and others) and other deployments to be shared with NSs, donors and other stakeholders and produce end of year Global Surge report with deployment and capacity statistic included.
- Gather and analyse quantitative and qualitative data to feed into IFRC analysis products.
- Contribute to the collection and analysis of baseline and historical data as well as trend and lessons learned from IFRC Operations where Surge have been deployed.
- Produce thematic ad hoc reports and analysis.
- Support the review process of methodology documents and analysis products as well as participate in internal evaluation to improve the quality of Suge processes and procedures.
- Provide support to IFRC information products development.
- Provide inputs on data visualisation and analysis products within the Surge team in the Geneva and the Regional offices.
- Propose and implement new solutions for improving data and information processes in Surge.
- Support data entry and processing.
- Produce infographics to support the dissemination of information products to the membership.
- Support of the collection, collation of evidence to inform the yearly meta-analysis that is encompassing the lessons learned from most IFRC Orange-Red scale operations.
**Roster Management Support**:
- Maintain the development of the Rapid Response management system (RRMS) as Global Surge database, that includes:
- Ensure information from rapid response personnel is up to date.
Updating information related to deployments, learning and training.
- Support and contribute to the development of new features in the Rapid Response management system.
- Support the coordination of the technical working group of National Societies with interest in the database.
- Contribute to dissemination and effective use of the RRMS, ensure inefficiencies are well captured and reported.
- Provide support to users and contribute to the development of user guidance.
- Support the monthly reporting of Surge through the data extracted from the database.
**Support to RCRC Global Surge Capacity L**earning Initiatives **and Events**:
- Support the administrative and logistic tasks related to the organization of different trainings as the Emergency Team Leader, CAP (Coordination Assessment and Planning for RCRC Operations), Managing IFRC operations training, Needs Assessment trainings, among others.
