The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

The overall objective of the UNEP's Industry and Economy Division is to encourage decision-makers in government, local authorities and industry to develop and adopt policies, strategies and practices and technologies that promote sustainable patterns of consumption and production, make efficient use of natural resources, ensure safe management of chemicals and contribute to making trade and environment policies mutually supportive. It promotes development, use and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments, managerial practices and other tools that assist in environmentally sound decision making and the building of corresponding activities.

The Chemicals and Health Branch work closely with governments, industry, and civil society organizations around the world to develop mainstream solutions for the sound management of chemicals and waste. The position is located in the Industry and Economy Division, Chemicals and Health Branch in Geneva duty station. Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Chemicals and Health Branch, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
**Responsibilities**:
1. Provides general office assistance to Chief of Branch and Officer in Charge (OiC):
Reviews, logs and routes incoming correspondence for Chief of Branch or OIC approval/signature, including routing to Division Director or Deputy Director; sets up and maintains files/records.
Organizes invitations to virtual meetings/workshops on behalf of the Chief of Branch or OiC.
Responds to general information requests and inquiries.

Branch Requisitioner - Consultants and Individual Contractors (CIC) and Procurement;
Prepares requisitions in Umoja for shopping carts for consultant contracts and payments, ensuring proper procedures and overseeing consolidated monthly consultant payroll.
Assists with Umoja entries for procurement as requisitioner using overall best practices for conducting UN Procurement.

2. Backup to the Branch HR Admin Assistant:
Processing consultancy, individual contractor contracts, including UNOPS, and staff recruitments as necessary. Reviews time and attendance records, raising leave on behalf of staff as required etc. Initiates requests for mapping P staff as Consultant Administrators.

3. General Administration:
For Geneva-based Units: provide security documents for issuance of identity badge and passes of all staff, consultants, individual contractors, and Interns working in the office in the Geneva.

Request the creation or cancelation of international telephone lines for on-boarding and off-boarding personnel respectively.

For Geneva-based Units: support management of office space and IT equipment arrangements for arrivals, departures, office moves for staff, consultants, individual contractors, and interns.

Draft correspondence to respond to enquiries in respect to relevant administrative and personnel matters.

Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.

Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.

Provides guidance/training to new/junior staff.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience

Experience in organizing virtual meetings is required.

Experience in front office support is required.

Experience in procurement using UMOJA or similar platform is desirable.

Experience processing HR recruitments is desirable.

One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working langua
