**About the Role**

In this role, you are accountable for delivering underwriting expertise and technical leadership for the Engineering Line of Business within EMEA with main focus on wind farms (on
- and offshore). As the Expert Underwriter you will be part of the Property & Speciality EMEA products team together with 8 other colleagues. You will work in close collaboration with all EMEA E&C country leaders and underwriters as well as the products centre. You will be close to the decision makers and report to the Head of Property & Specialty EMEA.

Working hand in hand with the client facing EMEA Underwriting teams, you will provide underwriting expertise, ensure high quality underwriting activities in the region, along with portfolio steering, product development & management. You will contribute towards the development & implementation of the Engineering and Construction Underwriting strategy for the EMEA region to meet our profitable growth targets. Together with the International Program Team you will contribute to strengthen our capabilities to lead International Programs.

**We are flexible on the final location of the role, and are also open to filling the vacancy in one of our other European offices.**

**The opportunity**:

- As a key expert in specific industry sector (ideally on
- or offshore wind farms) you will contribute to analyze the (sub) portfolio and develop industry specific underwriting standards accordingly, best practices, risk appetite, including business filters
- As a member of the global Engineering and Construction community, you will act as a point of reference on technical issues in EMEA and keep track on wind farms, subsea cable and other renewable energy.
- You will contribute to monitoring, steering, reporting and portfolio management together with the EMEA lead Engineering underwriter
- You will make the underwriting decisions within respective underwriting authority level, and manage the escalation of cases exceeding their authority
- You will be the consultative resource for referrals, coaching, sounding, and 4-eyes
- You will mentor, develop, train underwriters, promote and share knowledge openly
- You will represent E&C Products in meetings with internal stakeholders, clients, and brokers as appropriate
- Foster innovation and creativity based on strong market knowledge

**About You**
- Minimum of five years engineering underwriting experience with (re-) insurance
- Engineering degree in mechanical or electrical or process engineering
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a professional engineer in the industry, with sound experience as a project engineer or on-site supervision including testing/commissioning responsibilities of large projects
- Strong team player, business acumen
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset, Drive innovation in products and processes; focus on execution
- Self-initiative
- Strong ability to work cross functionally, cross-culturally, coordinate & align interests: Client facing UW units, Risk Engineering, other Products functions, Claims, Actuarial, Client Managers/ Sales, Organisational Effectiveness, etc.
