**LOCATION**
This position is located at our corporate office in Zug, Switzerland.
**THE POSITION**
The Global Director of Engineering is in charge of all Engineering related disciplines for new & existing projects on an established schedule within approved budget and to standards agreed to with the Client. He / She supports the implementation of Aman’s standards and brand objectives through a focus on engineering strategies and solutions. Responsible for managing owners and their respected consultants to achieve prominent Aman hotels both in urban and resort locations, as well as maintaining the feasibility parameters.
**Responsibilities**:
- Plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities and projects within Aman. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization's established policies and objectives.
- Utilizes best practice engineering methods and provides expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives. Incorporates components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output. Manages overall engineering budget and costs
- Ensure continuous design value engineering initiatives to effect cost reduction and cost effectiveness in close coordination with project management division
- Ensure that all hotels operate in an economical, legal and safe manner
- Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental issues are prioritized and facilitate, direct and drive implementation of Lean Business strategy and drive Continuous Improvement across all engineering related areas of the business
- Coordinate with other departments all work necessary to maintain general conditions, safety and health standards set forth by hotel policy and legal requirements
- Work with Engineering colleagues in operation and control of utilities to provide efficient operation of hotel services and comfort to guests
- Monitors and supports the yearly preventive maintenance program of each resort
- Provide engineering direction, ensure adherence to brand standards, and oversee/assist external engineering consultant teams from initial concept development through all phases of design
- Participate in final technical inspections, testing & commissioning
- Review and monitor project costs to ensure current costs are in alignment with approved budgets
- Assist with Capex / Opex budget planning, design review, project data tracking and reporting

Qualifications:
- A degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering and/ or Building Management
- Minimum 5 years work experience as Director of Engineering in a luxury hospitality environment. Preferable prerequisite is experience in the Hotel industry or any related or similar service-oriented industry
- Could have previously held positions as Project Engineer, Director of Engineering, Chief Engineer (Marine, unlimited ocean/ unlimited horsepower) aboard vessels of over 10,000 tons
- Fluent in English (further languages desirable)
- Responsible self-starter, capable of handling multi-faceted projects and of working under pressure
- Team player who values teamwork, has good team building skills and is able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees
- Excellent analytical skills, a proactive problem solver
- Personable and pleasant to deal with. Discreet, reliable, diplomatic
- Understands and respects local culture, able to adapt to changing environment
- Recognized as an authority in mechanical and electrical engineering
- Experience in dispute, conflict resolution, negotiations & deal making
- Detailed knowledge of air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration systems and related refrigerants, chilled/condenser water components
- Preferred previous experience in water/ wastewater treatment and related chemicals/ filtration devices
