**What you’ll do**

As **Director of Oncology Government Affairs and Policy Europe and Canada **you will play a pivotal role in channelling our capabilities to catalyse government affairs engagement and policy change across European markets for the benefit of cancer patients, healthcare systems and AstraZeneca. In this position, you will direct internal resources and engage externally to promote a policy environment which will enable healthcare systems and AstraZeneca to succeed in realising our bold ambition eliminate cancer as a cause of death and our objective to bring 10 new oncology medicines to patients in Europe & Canada until 2030.

You will also identify ways in which AstraZeneca can meaningfully support broader initiatives at country
- and EU Institutional level aimed at strengthening the oncology R&D environment, health system capabilities and resources to address the growing burden of cancer in Europe & Canada. In this role, you will establish the oncology policy strategy at the regional level and work closely with our Government Affairs and Policy group in the Region and in countries to ensure implementation. You will be the key counsellor to AstraZeneca country offices and assist in developing and executing their oncology policy plans and partnering with external stakeholders.

As the **Director of Oncology Policy for AstraZeneca in Europe & Canada**, you understand that to be successful in this role you will develop strong, trusted partnerships with a variety of external stakeholders, both internal and external. You have a profound knowledge in the field of oncology, preferably in access and innovation policy, and in how health systems operate. You have a special gift and motivation to find solutions which benefit multiple stakeholders. You are as passionate as we are about our work, you come equipped with an infectious energy, an entrepreneurial mindset and proven ability to move matters through collaboration.

You will report to **Senior Director Corporate Affairs Oncology Europe and Canada** and be a member of the AstraZeneca Europe and Canada Corporate Affairs organisation. You will work closely with the Director Oncology Comms as well as regional functions (e.g. access, medical, commercial, diagnostics), Heads of Oncology/Oncology Business Unit Directors, the Government Affairs and Policy teams at the country level and the Brussels team.

**Responsibilities**:

- Drive and oversee oncology policy-shaping activities across the Europe and Canada region, by working seamlessly and continuously with regional and country teams. Particular focus is on:

- Establishing powerful policy-shaping ambitions, focused strategies and impactful flagship initiatives
- Adopting and adapting existing management tools to help prioritise and track policy shaping activities across the region, to identify and share best practices at pace
- Ensure clear internal communication on oncology government affairs and policy initiatives and engagement, facilitating sharing of best practice and knowledge exchange between EUCAN markets
- Develop and implement a policy shaping and external engagement strategy for the above-country level (e.g. EU Institutions) that will facilitate and/or inspire policy change at country level, in close collaboration with the Corporate Affairs Brussels office
- Develop compelling policy argumentations and engagement materials
- Create strong external relationships and partnerships with relevant stakeholders such as policy-makers/advisors, patient advocacy groups, clinical experts and professional societies
- Lead and contribute to multi-stakeholder partnerships with the aim to deliver outputs relevant to progressing policy discussions at Region and country level, driving and supporting political engagement as well as working closely with Global counterparts to support policy evidence generation and pull-through of global materials
